What happens in an online music lesson?

What you need, what the 30 minutes look like, and what happens between lessons.

A Piedbells lesson is live. You and your tutor see and hear each other in real time, and the lesson is planned around your level and your goal. Here is what to expect.

Before the lesson

You need three things: your instrument, a device with a camera and microphone, and a steady internet connection. Find a quiet spot where your tutor can see your hands.

Tip. Put the device to the side of your instrument, at about shoulder height, so your tutor can see both your hands and your posture.

The 30 minutes

Lessons take place on Google Meet. A standard lesson is 30 minutes, and longer lessons can be arranged. Your tutor listens to you play, demonstrates, explains, and works with you on the next step towards your goal.

Between lessons

After each lesson your tutor shares materials and practice tasks in Google Classroom, and sets a short daily practice. Short, regular practice makes the next lesson easier. Every student gets a progress report each month.
